Meet The clinic Founder

Dr. Anthony Kopp

Dr. Anthony Kopp is the owner of Kalamazoo Chiropractic & Rehabilitation. He is a licensed chiropractor but practice along the lines of a physical therapist and holistic healthcare professional.

Anthony’s health and fitness journey began when he was just 6 years old, playing baseball, golf, soccer, and hockey – any sport he had the opportunity to try. At 13 years old, he decided hockey would be his main sport. He played all the way through high school and into college, but eventually, he grew burnt out. Despite facing several injuries, they didn’t stop him from playing, though they did temporarily take him out of the sport.

Anthony went on to earn a degree in mechanical engineering from Western Michigan University, where he discovered CrossFit as a way to stay competitive. This marked a significant turning point in his fitness journey. He became deeply involved in CrossFit, even coaching for 10 years. His goal was to help others take control of their health and live their best lives through fitness.

During his years of training in CrossFit, Anthony suffered multiple back injuries. The first injury occurred while he was at Western Michigan, with subsequent injuries happening during chiropractic school. These back injuries were debilitating – Anthony was unable to walk, get off the couch, or even sleep. His life was deeply impacted and he found himself unable to do the things he loved.

Despite receiving regular chiropractic adjustments and soft tissue work during his studies, Anthony found no lasting relief. Chronic pain and leg weakness became constant struggles, prompting him to seek alternative treatment methods. It was during this search that he found two mentors who introduced him to dynamic neuromuscular stabilization. This system focuses on how the body should move based on childhood development, offering a framework for how joints and muscles should function to live a full and active life.

This insight he gained from his mentors transformed his approach to treatment. He simplified these principles into a more accessible framework that could help his patients better understand how to move their bodies in everyday life, improving their overall health and fitness.

This new approach led Anthony to start his own business – Kalamazoo Chiropractic & Rehabilitation. He recognized that many chiropractors in Kalamazoo were not taking rehabilitation seriously. Often, treatments consisted of quick adjustments and brief sessions. In contrast, he dedicates an hour to each patient, ensuring all questions are answered and diving deep into their root cause issues. His goal is not only to treat symptoms but to help patients understand the underlying causes of their pain and provide solutions that lead to long-term recovery.
