Frequently Asked Questions

  • What happens at the first visit?
At your first exam, your physician will have an in-depth conversation with you about the reason you came to see us. This conversation will include, but is not limited to, your current and past medical history, your current and future goals, and your current activity levels and hobbies. After this discussion, your doctor will take you through a detailed physical exam that is specific to your case. Much of this physical exam will be taking you through movements that will assess all joints and soft tissues of your body. Oftentimes, when we have unexplainable pain, there is an underlying cause that is not at the site of pain. This is why we will look not only at the current complaint, but every possible source that could be causing the painful feeling. Please dress in clothing you are able to move around in.
  • What is Treatment Like?
At KCR, treatment is always one-on-one directly with your physician. The physician will make treatment decisions solely based on your history and exam findings in order to arrive at the best treatment strategies for you as an individual. Each treatment will also be individualized depending on how you responded to the previous treatment. While all patients are treated individually, we follow a three-phase plan for all patients. Phase 1 is reducing or abolishing symptoms. Phase 2 is correcting the reason why the pain came to be in the first place. Phase 3 is integrating the corrected root cause into your daily activities and real life.
  • Do I need to go to a Chiropractor for the rest of my life?
No, you do not. The goal of KCR is to give you the tools and knowledge to stay healthy and pain free. It is our job to first make sure that chiropractic care is right for you. We do this by conducting a thorough history and assessment of your condition. If it is warranted, we may send you for more detailed testing such as X-ray, MRI, or CT scans. If we do find that you are a good candidate for chiropractic care, we will suggest an estimated treatment plan that is typically between 6 and 10 visits long. Note the duration of treatments may vary depending on your unique symptoms and presentation. If we find that you are not a candidate for chiropractic care, we will refer you to the correct doctor for your case.
  • Do you only treat back or neck pain?
At KCR we treat more than just the spine. We are trained in treating all joints and many different conditions. If you are not sure whether we treat a specific condition, please call and we would be more than happy to discuss it with you.
  • Do you use x-rays?
No, we do not X-ray in our office. However, we may refer you for imaging if something in your history or physical exam warrants it, or if you are not progressing in your treatment plan as expected. We always begin with the least invasive exam options. We believe movement gives us the most insight into how you are using your body daily. We can always move to more invasive exams such as X-ray, but we cannot go backwards.
  • Do you take my Insurance?
Many KCR services are covered by various forms of insurance but we do not bill insurance companies directly. We do require payment at the time of service. If you wish to submit a claim to your insurance provider, we are more than happy to prepare a superbill for you.
  • Can I use my Health Savings Account or Flex Card?
Yes! If your HSA requires a superbill or itemized receipt, please let us know and we will provide it to you.
  • Why do you not bill insurance directly?
We want to provide the best care possible without being limited to only the therapies insurance would cover. Many of the therapies our clinic uses are not fully covered by insurance companies. If your insurance does cover any of our services, we can provide you with the appropriate forms to submit to your insurance provider. Unlike insurance companies, KCR will never send you unexpected bills in the mail for treatments that weren’t covered because we have set, clear pricing that we discuss upfront, prior to any treatments. By spending our time directly with you as a patient rather than with your insurance company, we are able to give you the time and care that leads to better outcomes. Our transparent billing practice also help us to keep our rates lower for all of our patients. We will always choose a therapy that is best for you, rather than choosing a therapy based on insurance reimbursements. As a patient of KCR, we invite you to join us in becoming an active participant in your wellness.
