Degenerative Disc Disease
Degenerative Disc Disease is a process where the intervertebral disc begins to lose height and hydration. The discs are like a shock absorber for the spine. They provide cushioning while also providing movement of the vertebra of the spine. While there is no specific cause of DDD, it is usually associated with the aging process. Everyone will experience some disc degeneration in their life. Some people will never know they have it, sometimes it does cause people pain. Having a thorough assessment can rule in or out DDD as your pain generator.

At Kalamazoo Chiropractic & Rehabilitation, you will be taken through a thorough medical history and full body assessment to make sure you receive a proper diagnosis. In most cases, treatment will begin on your first visit once we decide that conservative care (i.e. without the use of surgery, drugs, or injections) is right for you.

Dr. Kopp uses a combination of Mechanical Diagnosis & Therapy (McKenzie Method) and Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS) to assess and treat both pain from DDD and the function of the spine as a whole.
